Compound Workspaces are a collection of standard workspaces. They can show a holistic view of multiple workspaces, either to provide an overview of a single market or a horizontal view across multiple markets.
The ability to have a holistic view allows you to gain a broader oversight of a large dataset that may be spread across multiple workspaces.
To create compound workspaces, you must have:
Access to a Pi Datametrics account
Workspace editing privileges
A collection of Standard Workspaces already created
Setup
All the following steps apply to daily, weekly and monthly standard workspaces.
In the Workspaces area, click ‘Create a new Workspace’:
From here, select ‘Compound Workspace’:
Enter the workspace details. These include:
Frequency - from the drop-down, choose from daily, weekly, or monthly
Workspace name
Description (optional)
Click ‘Next’:
Select Data Sources - using the tick boxes, choose which standard workspaces to include in the compound workspace. Click ‘Finish’:
The compound workspace will appear in your workspace list. Note - there are some differences in what information is displayed compared to standard workspaces:
No terms or queries totals as compound workspaces are made of multiple standard workspaces
No tracking status - tracking is determined by the status of the workspaces included in the compound workspace
Actions - the only action is to explore the compound workspace. Pausing is at the standard workspace level. Only standard workspaces can be duplicated.
Editing and deleting workspaces
Workspaces can be edited or deleted using the two icons in the workspace overview tab.
Click the cross to delete the workspace. A message prompt will ask you to confirm this before deleting it.
Click the pencil to edit:
From here you can change:
Name
Description
Currency - this converts the currency and values of the market data. Use this to reflect the currency of the workspace's market, your local currency or any other currency.
Click 'Save':
