Getting started

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • A workspace structure to support the output you want

  • An Average Order Value for the dashboard (Known as ACV – Average Conversion Value)

  • A Conversion Rate

  • Sites you want to analyse, added in ‘Account sites’

Market Intelligence can be found in the Reporting section of the navigation menu:

On the Market Intelligence page, you will see all your Market Intelligence (MI) views. To create a new MI, click the, ‘Create new MI’ button:

* Note: For best practice data structure, minimise duplicate terms across your workspaces and search term groups.

Frequency and features

Select ‘Weekly’ or ‘Monthly’ sampling frequency. This relates to the number of data points over the period.

  • Weekly will show four data points per month. The maximum length of data for weekly is one year (52 weeks).

  • Monthly will show one data point per month. The maximum length of data for monthly is three years (36 months).

Include SERP features in your MI by selecting the toggle menu:

Select Workspace

MI offers data segmented by two levels. For workspaces, the workspace names represent the first level of data. The search term groups within these workspaces are then selected for the second level.

Select the workspaces you would like to include in the MI then click 'Next':

If you are unable to select a workspace, this means there are no search term groups within that specific workspace. You will need to categorise the workspace before adding it to your MI.

Select Search Term Group(s)

Select the groups from the workspaces selected as the second levels for the MI dashboard data and drill-downs, then click "next".

Select search engine

Select a single search engine for each workspace then click, 'Next'.

You do not need to pick the same search engine for each workspace.

Select Site (Optional)

Site drop-down will give you a choice of account sites. You can add any site or site path to your account via the account menu ‘Manage sites’. Click 'Next' to continue.

*Note: If you have to add a site mid-journey, we suggest you open the Account Sites page in a new window to avoid losing setup progress.

Only root domains can be used in MI.

Details – Refresh rate | Start date | Name and Description | Currency, ACV & CR

  • Refresh rate – One-off or Recurring? Recurring will generate weekly or monthly depending on your previous selection.

  • Start date – As far back as possible is recommended. With weekly data, the view is limited to 12 months. With monthly data, this can be up to 36 months. Use the date picker or click any point of the chart (green indicates you have 100% data)

  • Name and description. – Naming is important to help identify the dashboard in the MI list.

  • Currency, ACV & CR – ACV should be the expected transaction value. CR should be the % from onsite traffic to order.

Once you have added criteria, click 'Finish' to generate your MI.

Building an MI with new data

If you are creating an out-of-cycle MI with new data from a daily workspace, you will see two options appear, which will allow you to create a 'current week' MI preview. This preview MI will then re-sync on the next process point (weekly or monthly, depending on what you have selected)
Just select the current week on the date picker and choose one of the following options:

  • Wait for data – Your MI will be processed after the current day's data has been collected. This is recommended if you have new Search Terms that need to be tracked as this ensures the MI will populate with full data.

  • Process now – Your MI will process now, based on the data currently available. New Search Terms that don't have data will be skipped in this first MI.

MI homepage actions

On your MI homepage, you will see 4 actions, these are:

  • Explore MI

  • Edit MI

  • Delete MI

Selecting the "Edit" action allows you to edit basic features and information of the MI.

Here you can:

  • Change the name of the MI

  • Add a description

  • Change the output to either a one-off view or recurring

  • Add or remove SERP features to the MI
