Using the Search Term Discovery Tool

Choose a Search Type

Select one of the two search types:

  • Root Domain

  • Seed Terms

Expand Keyword Research

For comprehensive keyword research, combine:

  • Root domain and seed terms approaches

  • Google Search Console data

  • Google Autocomplete search

  • Competitor analysis (identify their ranking terms that you don't rank for)

Use a competitor’s domain and filter for positions 1-10. Enter the relevant topics in the 'search term includes' box

Refine with Search Volume Range

To identify long-tail keywords:

  • Set a search volume range (generally below 1000 for better results)

  • Click 'Discover' and review the results

  • Check the last results page for valuable long-tail keywords

Analyze Google SERP Features

Utilize the tool to:

  • Identify Google SERP features for keywords to assess user intent

  • View search volume trends to track seasonal or growing keywords

Optimize Seed Terms

  • Add up to 15 related seed terms

  • Select "Contains" to find keyword variations and generate an ordered list by search volume or Expand your keyword research using Google’s related searches to identify additional entry points users explore.


Using the People Also Ask Explorer

Access the Tool

  • Navigate to Content > People Also Ask Explorer

  • This tool surfaces 'People Also Ask' questions appearing in the SERPs for your tracked keywords

Prepare for Analysis

  • Ensure you’ve been tracking search terms for at least a few days before using this tool to gather sufficient data

Identify Opportunities

  • Appearing as an answer to a "People Also Ask" question increases your visibility

  • Track and target these queries to enhance search presence beyond standard links

Track & Optimise

  • Begin tracking "People Also Ask" questions that align with your content strategy

  • Leverage these insights to improve search rankings and engagement
