The Backlink Analysis tool is where you can explore the backlink profiles of the URL of interest.

We source this link data from the Majestic's database. Majestic surveys and maps the Internet and has created the largest commercial Link Intelligence database in the world. Link data is a component of search engine ranking, understanding the link profile of your own, as well as competitor websites can empower rational study of Search Engine positioning. Majestic is constantly revisiting web pages and sees around a billion URLs a day.

Clicking on the backlinks themselves will reveal where the links come from, what the anchor text is, the nature of the links themselves, the 'follow' status.

Two important metrics that you will see are:

Trust flow (quality)

Trust Flow represents the quality of links that point to URLs and websites. A web page with higher Trust Flow than Citation Flow will usually have good-quality links.

Citation Flow (quantity)

Citation Flow is a score which reflects the quantity of links that point to any given website. Citation Flow does not care whether a link is of good quality or poor quality.

Overview

Backlink Analysis can be found in the 'discovery' drop-down of the navigation bar:

The Overview tab provides a summary of the features you can analyse by navigating through the tabs of the section.

Referring Domains

In the Referring Domains tab you can investigate:

  • Referring Domains to the URL of interest

  • The number of backlinks for each referring domain

  • The Trust Flow for each referring domain

  • The Citation Flow for each referring domain

You can also filter his data through specific anchor texts thanks to the input field on the top left side of the table.

As for the Referring Domains tab, you can apply filters to data to refine the information provided.

Use the date selector to change the period of analysis.

The Anchor Text tab gives an overview of the anchor texts that have been used to refer to the main URL that you're analysing and how many backlinks, referring domains and pages the Anchor Text has.

Pages

The last tab of this section is the Pages tab; it provides an overview of the URL you're analysing based on:

  • Page Title

  • HTTP status
